Sound Card Help

Recently I bought an iPod. When I went to install I ran into some problems, but to make a long story short I had to remove my old sound card and go back to using my even older intergrated sound card. When I went to control panel and then to sound/audio devices to just click over to the old sound card, it wasnt there in the drop box. I then check to see if it is recognized by device manager, and it is there un the device list. How do I get the sound card to be recognized and allow me to re-use it

specs are:
Intel Cel. 633
512mb RAM
40gig HDD
intergrated video
intergrated audio (not working)

You're likely missing the audio Driver for that integreated sound chipset (which you had to uninstall to use the new soundcard). This could be packed with the rest of the Chipset drivers for your motherboard, or separate. In either case, you should be able to find this at the Motherboard manufacturers website.

If you need help locating the Driver, list as much infor about your computer and motherboard as you can (model number would be great). If you need more infor, try unning Everest http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4181

 

The program lists "ESS Technology Allegro-1.COMM AudioDrive" as my sound device. I didnt get a model number on the motherboard. The program showed the name of the motherboard to be "Compaq PC" and the ID came up as DMI. If there is anyother information I need to post please tell me. I hope this can help you help me.

 

I am on the ESS sound drivers page, but without the model i cant really find the right driver for sure.

Can you find the Compaq model number on the computer? Presario xxx or whatever the series is?
