sound card HELP!!!

I'm trying to play a DVD on my computer for my daughter, and it keeps giving me this message:

Error PL4014: Playback failed due to an error with the audio subsystem. Your currently installed audio driver may not be fully compatible with DirectX. Please close any DirectSound applications that are using the sound card. If the problem persists, you may need to upgrade or reinstall your sound card driver. Click the “Help Online” button (bottom button on the left) to find out more information.

I go to the "Help Online" and it won't bring it up for some reason. I tried playing it in windows media player and it still won't play. I even tried to look up ways to upgrade or reinstall my sound card and I'm not finding anything helpful. I don't know how to do that. Help please! Misty

 

id try updating the driver first, what soundcard do you have?

 

Ok, All I can tell you is that I have windows xp and I don't have the slightest clue how to answer what kind of sound card I have. I'm still pretty new to figuring out my computer. I didn't even know that I had a sound card until the error window popped up! (I know, major eyeroll right?)

 

Download EVEREST and post the log here as an attachment. (don't copy and paste it, only attach please)

Someone will check it for you and give you a link for the latest drivers.
