Sound card

Can any Geeks recommend me a NON PCI Express sound card other than a Creative Sound Blaster.. Windows7 has compatibility issues with a SB causing all sorts of probs. Thanx in advance.

 

Sound blaster works great with any windows.I think all you need to do with this (sound blaster live) is just update it.

 

That is easier said than done as the card I have which is an Audidgy 5.1 only went as far as XP compatibility , so that is why I need another card that will be compatible with Win. Vista I have managed to correct it slightly by putting/installing an AC97 which once again is extremely difficult to find which is compatible with Windows7. The sound will not function properly unless both drivers are installed and having said that I cannot get the AC97 to show in configuration in ''SOUND' in control panel. Bios is set to AC97. but there is no way I can set as default as it doesn't show. I have been trying to correct this problem for many weeks now, Windows7 has an issue with the SB driver whereby it is difficult to power off without a BSOD due to the conflict. Simple solution would be a PCI Express card but this Mobo does not run with them hence my original Quest/Post.
