Sound changes volume on it's own.

My friends rig is a laptop connected to a nice TV via HDMI, a little background on the laptop it got dropped and broke, I took a look at it previously and I could actually see that the only damage was to the screen connections. it's a dell studio 1737, I had previously researched and was offering to fix it if she got the parts. Well, I was over there the other day and I could hear the sound once we set it to a specific level would either go up or down and you could easily point it out. We tried internet radio, movies, music. She does have Itunes and that seems to maintain it's sound level. Anyways any suggestions would be appreciated, I posted it here cause I thought it was a driver issue at first but at this point totally clueless I am. Thanks again

ps could wireless keyboard mouse somehow mess with this.

 

If this post is correct it would be the video drivers that would be related.

Do you have a separate audio connection to the TV or just HDMI? (I'm trying to figure out if iTunes could be using the sound card where the other programs may be using the HDMI connection.

Thank you for the response, it's been some times since I've been able to troubleshoot. I updated all audio and video drivers on the system. When music is playing on Itunes the sound doesn't change volume on it's own, but if we use anything else the sound will increase and decrease on it's own. I'm gonna check out the audio settings again when I'm able to remote back in.
