Sound Data Won't Reach The Speakers On Asus Laptop

    I recently bought a STRIX G16 (G614FR-DS96) and a Zephyrus G14 (GA403WR-G14.R95070TI)

Right off the bat, I did not want to deal with Windows 11, so I replaced their SSD cards with upgraded versions and proceeded to install a Windows 10 image on both.

I've already installed the drivers for the CPU and GPU for the STRIX (haven't started on the Zeph yet). As far as I can tell, they're working fine. But the audio is not.

The system is identifying the sound device(s) as working correctly, but the sound tests yield nothing (Headphones work though). I've tried modifying the sound control panel by disabling Enhancements with no results.

The speakers themselves definitely work since the ROG Startup noise executes properly.

I inspected the Audio Inputs and Outputs in the device manager, and the RealTek Audio for the speakers seems to be stuck on "audioendpoint.inf" despite me installing more specific drivers from the ASUS website for the machine. I've tried updating them over and over again to no avail. It keeps telling me that the current drivers are sufficient or better. The last thing I've tried is using DDU to target the audio, but audioendpoint.inf still persists--although I do admit that I'm afraid the attempt may have been botched, but I'm just not sure how.

Any input on potential strategies from here or is this a Windows 10 compatibility issue?

    Dear ArgoRock.
I'm NOT an expert, just a guy who tries to write music, but got a couple of things you could try. F'starters, let's get the stoopid question out the way - have you right-clicked on the little speaker and checked Sound Settings to make sure the speakers' volume is turned on?

Secondly - have you tried WASAPI to see if that works for you? If no, here's the steps:-

    • Go to Edit > Preferences > Audio - Playback and Recording.
    • In the Driver Mode list, select WASAPI Exclusive or WASAPI Shared.
    • Select the Audio - Devices page tab (Edit > Preferences > Audio - Devices).
    • In the Input Drivers and Output Drivers lists, select the desired input and output ports.

If that doesn't work, try ASIO4ALL. It's a legit free download that handles Windows sounds. Only thing IS - it can only handle one sound outputter at once. So if you've got Windows Media Player (or similar) playing, chances are you couldn't hear anything online at the same time. Or visa-versa. In my experience, that thing's first come first served!

Just a thought - as the headphone socket works, why not get an adaptor jackplug and plug the speakers into the headphone socket? Works for me on my desktop - that's EXACTLY how my speakers run. Adaptor jackplug, big speaker jackplug in one end, adaptor end in the PC Headphone Socket. Works well enough to write music on!

    Yours respectfully,

    Chris.
