Sound dont work

i have a problem my sound dont work what do i do?

tell us what OS you are running on what machine, and give a description of when or how it happened, along with what you've tried to fix it.

 

If you are running WIN, right click on the sound icon at the lower right of the screen and choose "Open volume controls". See if the various file types are muted or turned down or the "mute all" is checked.

 

are you using intergrated or a card for ur audio?

 

I am not sure if it is integrated or if it is a card but I have win 98 running on my comp and I have searched for the sound and there is no sound card even showing up in the devise manager. But the sound worked for a while then when i let my friend use my computer she came over to me and said that the sound stoped but what got me is that the sound card is not even showing up any more I am not a computer whiz so i dont really know much about how to fix it if there is any more questions you may need from me let me know at my yahoo messenger and maybe then you can help me through there you know walk me through it my ym name is iceis_dragonia PLEASE HELP ME
