sound gone again...

Hi, I posted on here a while ago with a sound problem. I came on here and was given a lik to a sound card??? I did that and it worked lovely.
A couple of weeks ago i couldn't get sound again but it quite randomly came back somehow...

Now its goen again. I'm sure I can hear a very faint sound... the sound card is atill on there but I tried downloading the sound thing again, just in case and that hasn't worked. Obviously I've tried adjutsing the volume and its all on and not on mute or anything and I don't know how to make the sound come back.

What else could it be?

 

If this is a laptop, do you have any key or button that controls the sound volume?

 

There is what looks like a volume or speaker Icon on Fn/ Esc but that doesn't do anything.

I tried going into control panel and sounds and its all turned up, not on mute...

But when I click on the "Audio" tab and go to "playback", I click on the volume button and it says ...

"Windows cannot execute sndvol32.exe, use add/remove programmess to install.

 

I've searched that file and it comes up with no results.

 

I think its windows XP and I don't know what a service pack is... Sorry
