    Hi There!

I hope I am posting this in the right place. I am having a problem where my sound is coming through both my headphones and speakers at the same time. I have realtek HD audio. I have the latest drivers. One thing I notice while looking online for a solution is that I do not have the connecter settings folder that is suppose to help you with your jack info. anyway I would love to fix this. could anyone help me.

    thanks!

Is this a new problem or has it always existed?

desktop or laptop? Version of windows? Is headphone 3.5 mm or USB plug? If desktop, front or rear port used for headset?
Last make and exact model of computer would help so we can check specific hardware.

To answer all your questions this is a new problem. Only recently happened. Its a Toshiba Satellite A505-A6017 laptob I am running Windows 7 home premium. My headphones plug in with 3.5mm jack.

    Hmmmm....

On my laptops, to connect the headset I must unplug the speakers first. Are you using a USB connection for either the speakers or headset? Any type of switch involved in your setup?

You might do better to take this over to the MG Hardware Forum

I am not using any USB connection for either speakers or headset. A switch? Not that I am aware of.

So you have two sets of plugs, OR you plug the headphones into the speakers then?

The best I can come up with is a post from Yahoo! Answers which had nearly an identical post. It could be that the headphone jack itself has gone bad. But there's also a setting in Control Panel for Audio Devices. It seems that this is a rather common issue with your particular type of Toshiba Satellite.

The speakers are built in so yeah I plug it into the headphone jack.

Assuming the headphone/jacks are the right size, it should bypass the built in speakers upon connection. If this were my problem, I'd be posting in the Hardware Forum...
