Hey all...Real new here but not new to technology. I work for 1800Flowers and have to use a head set but when I am not working I like to use My speakers (external) for music and such. This morning I took out the usb that connects My headset and turned on My speakers but no sound and in the bottom of the corner I have the no audio device symbol. So I have been searching for about 2 hours on how to fix this. Thing is , when I plug in My head set still works so I was thinking that maybe I messed up the driver or something to the speakers cause the computer doesnt even detect that the speakers are connected. I would imagine that if it was My sound card or something like that I not even a head set would work right? Seems to make sense. Can someone please help Me with this? Maybe I just need to buy some new speakers? Thanks to all who even look at this and comment.:)

    Welcome to Major Geeks.

First, check the speakers' AC power adapter (if there is one) and the cable connections (this sounds silly; however I've made this mistake in the past :-o).

Next, go to CONTROL PANEL>SOUND and see if the speakers show up. You may have to change them to the default audio device for them to work.

If the speakers are a USB connection, unplug the speakers from the USB, restart the PC then plug the speakers' USB connection back in. You should see something to the effect of "Windows Found New Hardware" pop up at the bottom right of the screen. If you get a message that the driver installation was not successful, go to the speaker mfr's website and see if there is a driver available for you to download and install.

    Hope these ideas help. :)

Also, make sure your speakers aren't muted somewhere in the settings. I know this sounds obvious, but I have made this mistake myself in the past :p

Yes I have tried all of the above. My first thought was to check My connections and I also went in to My control panel but the computer does not seem to know that the speakers are attached. I tried unplugging them and back in but still nothing. Tried to force My computer to find them as well. But with all this, Is it good to say that it is NOT My soundcard? Like if it was I would not be hearing sound from My head set yes?:confused
