Hello Everyone, we did a windows update on my friends pc and the sound went south, stopped working. I tried updating all the drivers and still did not work, so I uninstalled the speakers and when we started it back up thinking it would reinstall, but it stated in the sound section, that "No audio installed"

Would a Registry Back up put it back in play? Thanks

Describe exactly what you mean by "Windows update". What is the brand and exact model of the PC? (We need that to determine the hardware).

That is a bad idea. You never update all the drivers. You might update one driver if you have a problem and then you go to the manufacturer's site for the correct driver. You never use any program that promises to update all the drivers. Those programs cause more problems than they solve.

Hi It is a Dell OptiPlex model 790 (bios A19)

Sound lost after Newest Windows Updates were installed, then I went to Device Manager and Updated the Drivers from there, but did not work, still No Sound

I even Uninstalled it thinking on Restart it would put the sound back!

I believe the Sound is Integrated into the system, if it is can we still use a New Sound card?

Did you go here to get the driver?
    https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=x5k1k

You might need motherboard drivers but Dell is giving anyone not using a Dell a hard time to get to the drivers downloads.
You might be able to take the computer to the site, then have it scan for drivers. If it finds the correct audio driver, it will install what you need.

Turn off MS Driver updates. MS can manage to break devices by updating drivers. (After it happened to me, I turned off driver updates).
