Sound not working and TR/Trash.Gen Trojan

    Hi

    I am not sure if the above two are connected.. Recently I went through all the malware removal steps as per my post "Sound not working and various other problems" of 7th of January. I then noticed problem with freezing with csrss.exe hogging system and was sent over to software forum where Falcon attack recommended trying the avira CD http://forum.avira.com/wbb/index.php...threadID=82163
    This found a Trojan and it was quarantined last night so good news. However I have been told that it could respawn and also my sound is still not working despite downloading latest drivers and uninstalling and reinstalling the soundmax 'thing'. I cannot attach the Avira report file as I uploaded it last night to my post in the software forum.
    Should I now run through the whole Malware removal thing again? - please no :cry
    Is there anything more I should do?

    The item Avira detected was just in System Restore. All you needed to do was toggle system restore off and then back on to remove old restore points. That item would not have anything to do the problem you have with sound not working. You will still have to work that in the Hardware Forum.

    However note that before you think about toggling system restore, you may want to see if you have an old restore point that can be used to possible fix your sound issue.

    OK thanks. Unfortunately had already done the restore toggle when saw your last message but have seen a number of posts concerning sound problems so will see if anyone of them work for me.
