    hello,

My computers sound has not been working right for about that past month. any sound that plays on the computer even notifications keep skipping and freezing up. No it is not my speakers i have tested this with others and every time it did the same thing except for when i used a USB plug. I have tried to reinstall my audio driver and restart my computer many times and it did stop skipping for a while but then it would do it again. can you please help me

    I have a HP Pavilion P6000 Series windows 7 x86

    Hi

Is your Windows 7 OS fully upto date with all updates?

In Device Manager do you have any Red X's or Yellow ! marks and if so what items are they next too?

Could you give us the full version of your PC as there are at least 40 variants of this PC and they tend to have differing hardware so giving you a driver, which is likely to be to install the Chipset again and then the audio driver as the fix is hard.

You can use the automatic tool HERE to find your model, just click "Start Now"

Could before trying the above give this FixIt a go HERE

    hi

Yes my computer is Fully up to to date

I checked the Device manager and and i only have one yellow mark next to an unknown device. im not sure what it is but my sound and all other things are all good.

I am not sure what version of HP Pavilion i have the detection didn't recognize it. I looked for it and could not find it but i did get this.

Model #: HP Pavilion P6000 Series
    Product #: BT429AAR#ABA
    Serial #: 4CW0321KMZ
    Software Build #: 10NAFMRW605
    Service ID #: 042-811
    PCBRAND: HP
    if that helps at all.

I also ran the Fixit thing from Microsoft and it said that my sound volume was low but its actually loud and that's all it said.

    Hi

Install the Audio driver from HERE and reboot and then test sound.

Do let us know what security software you have installed?

    Hello,

sorry i didn't reply for a while i have been busy lately. i tried install the driver from the link you gave but it came up with the error "Your system does not meet the operating system requirements. Update has been cancelled. (9997)"

I have anti virus and spyware security and what ever comes with the computer in the first place if that's what your asking for.
    Bitdefender antivirus plus 2012
    malwarebytes
I did also recently install winamp media player

    Hi

I would uninstall your antivirus software and malwarebytes and try the Audio driver again as its the only one for your system and its a Windows 7 version direct from the driver page for your PC HERE

Cannot see Winamp causing the issue but its well worth uninstalling WinAmp to test this.

    Hi

To gain the version of Windows click Start then right click Computer and choose Properties and under System is System Type and that will tell you if you have 32bit or 64bit Windows 7 (as x86 folder in Program Files could mean you have 64bit W7)

If after uninstalling WinAmp you still have sound skipping then try booting into Safe Mode (F8 at boot) and see if sound skips in Safe Mode, if it does then a 3rd party application is likely to blame and we can go from there.

    Hey,

Ok so i uninstalled Winamp and I found the original driver for win 64bit and now my sound is working. i tired to reinstall the driver before but after a while it would start skipping again but it seems to be working now. so i dont know if it was winamp that was doing it or just the wrong driver. but its working now.:-D

    thank you
