Sound problem

For the past few months I've had a problem with my computer when I try to record something.

Sometimes when I attempt to record a sound it records for a few seconds then it just freezes wherever its at and refuses to continue recording.

Other times it records but when I try to playback I get no sound whatsoever.
I think it might be my soundcard, but I'm not sure.

On my hardware under sound properties it says my soundcard is a "SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio."

Did you check for updated drivers just in case it's a driver issue?
