Sound Problem

I have a toshiba satellite a215-s5818, Lost my sound and a few of my services freeze up and cause my computer to act slow and network frames to freeze. I got around the services part for the most part i just need my sound back. I can only play sound in adobe audition,no other program will play sound or detect my sound card. I reinstalled it a few times with updated drivers,still nothing works. My sound card works find because my sound works fine when i run ubuntu. Oh yea it also wont play youtube or any sound from a website,startup,only sound is in adobe audition. I was wondering if i could restore factory settings from the hidden partition just so i can get my sound back,thats the only thing i can think of now unless anyone here has some good ideas !

 

yeah i had a similar issue but i took the cheap route and used diagnose and repair to fix the problem. Youtube searches said create a folder called /1234 which youtube saves data in for streaming, but that didn't work. satellite pro? i think is that model? so presumably you're using vista/ubuntu and can use diagnose and repair in windows. Toshiba also comes with hardware diagnostics if I recall, did you try running it or have you altered the factory presets? Sorry can't be of much help.

 

You don't mention your Windows version; if it's XP-SP3+ then try http://fixitcenter.support.microsoft.com/ - note the BETA tag; better make a System Restore Point before proceeding.

 

Im runnin vista on a satellite a215-s5818(not pro),wateva virus i have(im figuring its a virus) because i dl'ed one program that found the virus but wanted me to pay for it) has messed up my system restore so i can't use it. I prol ly made the problem worse but tryin to fixit messin around with stuff and now i cant restore. It even says all the restores points are deleted on my harddrive,except there is one the toshiba volume partition but i dont know how to get to that. I was using k-lite and asio so i can record music..everything was working fine then next day i rebooted all the problems starting accuring. I ran diagonostics it says everything with my soundcard is working fine but still no sound...games cant detect sound card or programs cannot create directsound main. And i was tryin to get my sound to work in Fruity Loops and in its audio settings its showing my sound card as disabled? Is there anyway to restore factory settings without having a CD, I heard this is a recovery partition but no luck accessing it. I just need to get my sound back in windows so i can play games and record music!. I hope someone can help me pleeeeaaassee!

 

tryed to use the microsoft fixit,it says sumfin about dssenh.dll not working...then durin the install it says it cant install powershell because of some problem wit the services. I tried to use windows update and windows defender update but niether works. :cry

i already did the malware removal process,thats taken care of thats the 1st thing i did before anything else.Now i removed all my sound drivers and tried a fresh install. Everything reported my device is working,but still no sound,I tried adobe audition still no sound. Realteak fales to play its test tone. Now once i install ASIO driver i can get sound with adobe audition because it recognizes that driver and it access the sound card. Other programs will not detect the ASIO driver and access the sound card. So im figuring its something in windows settings thats disable the realtek & natural windows drivers but makin the system report it as working???And i tried to do the microsoft fixit program,but powershell wont install,i tried to install that manually but windows update wont work.I tried the HDD recovery method for my laptop by holdin 0 when powering on. Now the ***HDD RECOVERY*** but the toshiba recovery wizard dosent comeup it just goes to the regular boot screen.:confused IDK if this is any help to help me.
