sound problems help!

my speakers have worked normally for as long as i can remember all of a sudden they dont work. i get error messages saying that no device is installed. please help will try nething

what system are you running?

 

windows xp

 

if it was vista i might be of more help. have you installed new driversor upgraded lately ?

 

What kind of speakers are they?

Sounds like you need new audio drivers. Do you have onboard sound or a sound card?

 

they are just cheapo shintaro speakers but they do the job .. normally.

i wouldnt know if i had a sound card or not how would i find that out?

Go to control panel/System/Device manager,and see if you have problem with your sound card.I smell is hardware issue.
