I have an HP Compaq nc6400 laptop and yesterday I noticed that the max volume has decreased a lot. I used to be able to get it up to uncomfortably loud with headphones on and now it's not even half that loud. The volume of everything in the master volume window is all up (including WAV volume). My laptop also has a volume control on the keyboard. I've played with that too and it will still decrease and increase the volume, but still not as loud as it used to.

My soundcard is a SoundMax HD audio.
    I'm running Windows XP

    Any ideas?

Nevermind, I think I figured it out. Something's wrong with my headphones.

I knew there was a reason, I backed away from this one. LOL
It's always good to start with with the simple and troubleshoot your way to the hard.
