    This is a general inquiry:

Has anyone ever been able to reinstall the SoundMax AD1888 AC97 driver in XP_SP3? Ever?

I've been trying for the past 2 weeks but no matter what I do all I get for my efforts is an aborted installation with the message "Driver not found! Reboot your system, and run this setup again." Again and again.

The web is crowded with people complaining of this problem yet in a week of searching I could not find a single working solution!

If you know of a proven working method of installing this mother, please tell me. I'll be much obliged.

(FYI, I've already tried so many different install packs and methods I've lost count.)

    All the best...

    Hi

Yes it has been installed OK in SP3, however at times the driver needs to be fooled, especially if you have had malware or installed wrong driver when updating, so try the information in this link http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showpost.php?p=1225686&postcount=7

Uninstall any Audio drivers you have already installed first.

Especially steps 1 and 2 to fool the driver into thinking you have SP2 installed, then only use the Audio driver that your PC or Motherboard maker supplies, but first install the UAA driver from HERE

Then follow steps 4 and 5 to return your PC to SP3 status.
