Sounds coming out the wrong speaker

This is my first post here, so please be nice!

I have troubles with my speakers....

Basically, the sounds that are supposed to be coming out of the right speaker, comes out the left and vice verca. I went to volume control to confirm this (by moving the slider each way) and it is definetely coming out the wrong speakers.

Does anyone know how to sort this? The speakers are just the basic desktop speakers that connect to one lead and plug into the back of the base unit.

Weird problem.

Do you have the speakers set up correctly?

Left speaker on left side, right speaker on right side?

Do you hear sounds coming out of both at the same time?

 

Is it backwards with all music, or just cds etc. playing from the cdrom drive? Some analog sound cables have a tab that insures you put them on the right way, but some are plain rectangular, and can be put on upside down, which reverses the stereo image. If the problem is only with the cdrom drive, check both ends of the cable between the drive & the sound card, and see if you can rotate just ONE of them 180 degrees to reverse the image back.

If it's with ALL music/sounds, simply switching the speaker positions will cure it, as aLLiKZar mentioned, or some sound setup software allows you to reverse the image in it's software.

Speakers are on the right sides. It's the same when I use headphones too. I can hear sounds from both at the same time.

It worked fine before. Recently I have had a new motherboard installed (sorry I should have said this right at the start), and ever since it has been like this. It is apparently on-board sound, but I'm not 100% sure about pcs components etc

 

It is with all sounds, Mp3s, games, etc.

Sorry, I keep forgetting to add in this information!

 

First thing I'd do is to find the sound system control panel where you can adjust the various levels etc., and see if there's a box to check to reverse the image. That would cure it.

Failing that, if you just paid to have a new motherboard installed, call the guys that did it and explain what you're getting. Since they put it in, they should be able to sort it out more directly.
