Sounds fishy

Hi Guys

Problem with the sound on my PC, I have used MajorGeeks search facility and could not find a similar problem, I have had no luck at all in sorting this out, there is no sound coming from my speakers so I went to click on the speaker icon in the task bar, not there, I then went into the control panel and clicked on sounds and audio devices there, properties opened and I tried to tick the place volume icon in the task bar, wouldn't work, all that happened was an error window opened stating that the volume control was not installed and that I should install it through the add/remove program, I can't find it in there, I went to device manager and into properties and uninstalled all audio devices and then rebooted my PC, still nothing, I am running windows XP Professional, speakers are attached and working, but still no sound, please help.

 

did u get any software ith ur sound card.. if so install it. u way need to go to 'add/remove windows components' rather than 'add/remove programs'

try going start>programs>accessories>entertainment> and then see if u can find the volume control icon there

hmmm sound problems *gets a headache* lol, have you got a sound card in your system or are you using the onboard sound (mobo sound) ?

 

I guess there is a sound card but not really sure, never had problems before, always had the little speaker icon in the task bar, just not there now, as for programmes-accessories-entertainment, no there is nothing in there, dont understand whats happened to it.
