I am trying to Install SP2 on my parents' 2002 version of XP2 (I think it may have already been downloaded by a previous owner of teh computer, but not installed. That could have been a while ago.) It just has XP at the moment.

Plenty of storage space, 2.6 MHz Celeron CPU, and 512 MB RAM.

It stops and I get an error msg - something like 0x800700E (not sure about this - I am not at my parents' house now).

Question is, should I persevere with XP2, or go for XP3. I hesitate because I have heard that there are some problems with XP3. On teh other hand, it would save getting a whole heap of other updates from MS.

Not that that's such a problem - my parents have cable and a usage allocation of 12 GB per month, of which they use about 40 MB!!! :-D

PS Tonight I found a page on MG site on preparing to install SP2. It had a link to an MS site, but that was for SP3. Might need updating. You probably want to know where that page is. I'll go look for it when it's not past my beddie-bye time. :zzz

I know I can try SP3, but the question is, is it reliable, or am I better to persist with SP2?
