spammers

is it just me or are there more than usual lately? is there a prize for reporting them? damn i hope so.

 

Heh think they just had a thread about someone mentioning it as well. Just remember to only report it, and stay away from replying in them(less work for mods).

 

that red triangle top right of every post. Click that. Only have to do it once per alias as they can take down multiple posts made by the same person with one click. Seems like a lot but not really.

What I am wondering: why the hell don't they give up???

They know that nobody here is going to buy their crap!
They know that their posts will be deleted before any search engine can pick up the links!

I mean...

• they have to register manually, and type a two word CAPTCHA;
• they have to respond to the verification email (and the email addy used will probably be blocked for repeat use in this forum);
• the IP address used may also be blocked from further use in this forum;
• they have to find a forum and create a new topic, then paste their spam;
• the post may be filtered before anyone can even see it;
• and if the post actually makes it into the forum, both post and user will be deleted within a short time.

...so what the hell is their point??? (And they are not bots, as most of the activities must be done manually.)

All the forums I know work quite similarly, so what the bloody hell is their point?????

 

They do it mostly to boost their web page in Google.

 

That is what I question - no spam post lasts long enough to be picked up by any search engine. Not only here at MG, but any other forum I know.

 

It is possible that the spammers do not use that method and use alternative non-direct means of posting forum posts, for example: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-10714192

 

Old spammers don't die, they just have their priveleges cut off.

I wouldn't open it unless it was from an established member.

There will always be someone who responds, It is just that on this forum we are very vigilant.

 

What I don't get is all these viagra and enhancement spams??? Where do they come from and more, why send them to me? I never have and would certainly never even consider buying ANY drug over the internet. And I don't and never have taken any medications.

I get about 30 a day in my spam folder, some lately have even been making it to my regular inbox. :major

I want to be a spammer. I need an army of little bots to peddle something noone needs, and once you pay for it with your "secure" credit card information I can go buy something REEEEEALLY Shiny out of my offshore account that you can't touch, track or do a thing about.

Sounds like the sweet life... aaaw yeah.

 

I want to get through to a spammer,make them realise how much they negatively effect peoples lives,try to drill them with some self respect even take them out for a spot of dinner.

Then just as I've gained their trust and confidence strangle them to death! Muhahaha...
