I have my laptop docked like a desktop, but the sound is coming through the laptop speakers, not my regular speakers. I have tried the control panel/sound, and I test all of the available speakers, but none are my regular speakers. How do I get my sound back on my speakers, not from the laptop?

    Thanks a lot

Wow Brad. Without telling us anything about your notebook, the docking station, or operating system, you sure don't give us much to go on. My "guess" would be you need to press the function key, plus another key.

It is a Dell Studio 1537, the speakers are made by Creative, the docking station is by Kensington

And in your Dell manual, it should say what the various Fn keys do. Is there one for using external speakers? What happens if you connect headphones? Do the notebook speaker mute?

I note on page 219 of your manual, it says,
That suggests your docking station, if it is compatible and connects properly, should kill the notebook speakers when connected.

    Did it ever work?

try connecting speakers into the headphone jack its designed for external speakers, the headphones for instance. the speakers should act the same way
