Speed issues on XP SP2

Hi guys

Windows XP SP2 on my mother's old laptop is running really slow and I was wondering which of these programs you would consider superfluous to requirement and could be gotten rid of. She doesn't really do much on it other than go online and check emails.

A bit more info on the machine would be helpful.
Amount of RAM?
CPU?
Make and model?
Last good Defrag?
Startup programs?

Could you post a list of your startups, and this can be done from Ccleaner and its Tools > Startup menu and then click the Save to Text File button in the bottom right corner and then attach as per HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post

this is a good program to research all the running processes on your pc and validate them with signitures.
