Speed up computer ?

is there a way to speed up windows/xp, in the control panel, system?, by checking some box , something like 'fastest system' ? thanks

 

I believe that you are referring to the setting in System under the Advanced tab. There is one there under the Performance option that allows you to turn off all the "eye candy" in XP ( adjust for best performance ) that will more or less revert to the classic view, and it does help on older systems with limited resources!
