Spreadsheet problem

Hi to all. I need help with a little problem regarding addition on a spreadsheet. Each week i put a new row of figures in column E. Previous totals are in column F. Is there a way i can put the figures in E and the total in F will add up automatically. Thanks

 

Yes, sir! I would suggest you choose a cell for the total, and enter this string in for its value: "=sum(f:f)" (without the quotes). The cell that has this as a value will add all the values in column F, and display the result.

If there are a fixed number of rows (for example, 30), you can have the total appear in the same column as well. We would need only to specify the range of rows. So, for cell F32, you could enter "=sum(F1:F30)" (without the quotes), and it would add just rows 1-30, instead of the whole column.

It's a hell of a lot easier way to sum a column.
Didn't know that one. I have always used =sum(F1:F30) for example. Bazza

PS: Some of my Excel spreadsheet were over 18,000 lines deep, when analysing mine Inventory items, to rate them on Turnover and Stock on Hand values. Baz
