I made a mistake and allowed "something" to enter my pc through my firewall. Now, even though my home page stays correct in internet options, it errors out, then redirects to www.syserrors.com. A security alert in the bottom right on the task bar alerts me to being infected with a virus. When I click on the alert it automaticly sends me to www.syserrors.com. I can't get rid of it, nor do I want to spend the $49.50 it wants for the software. Help please.

[rant on] First and foremost, never EVER, buy a program that infects your computer, its a scam. If any program was not suggested to you by someone you respect, dont buy it. You would not do this in the real world, so dont do it in the virtual world. Follow the advice here. [rant off]

Odds are it can be removed via our tutorial, though a Hijack This scan may be needed later to remove the home page Hijack, so here is the speech:

    Please follow the steps below:

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis:

    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

    Re: spy axe and spyware

Are you sure SpyAxe problems are completely gone? It is a persistent PITA! It can also leave an item in the system tray.

You should have posted this in your original thread. I'm merging this back to that thread.
