   I've run Spybot S&D twice this am and both times it shut my machine down. Why is this happening?

   Well it is a little difficult to know from so little information. You did not even indicate what Windows OS. Do other antispyware scans and also antivirus scans run to completion without causing a reboot? Can you ran a scan with Spybot in safe boot mode without it causing a reboot?
   
   If you feel you are having malware problems (and not hardware problems), you should run the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support and attach the 6 requested logs.
