I did a scan with Spybot this morning and it came up with this: NewDotNet; i tried to fix it but the whole thing kept freezing and then this popped up: 'Some problems couldn't be be fixed, reason could be that the associated files are in use (in memory).' Goes on to say it could be fixed after restart. Tried that but the same thing keeps happening.
    Any suggestions? Thanks.

Download the follow file, save to your desktop and double click to run.

    *Removed link to uninstaller*

After you uninstall you will be prompted to reboot, after you have rebooted run another scan with SpyBot and if it still detects it, it should fix it. If not attach the Spybot log by right clicking in the scan area and selecting "save results to log".

Hi bjgarrick and thanks for your reply; however, after doing what you said, twice, the problem is still exactly the same. It just wont go. Anymore suggestions? Please and thank you.

Right click in the scan area and select "save results to log" and attach this log to your next post.

If you have the log saved to a file, click on POST REPLY and then click the "Manage Attachments" feature at the bottom of this box where you type your text.

First you need to update your version of Spybot to the latest build.

    SpyBot-Search & Destroy 1.4

After you have downloaded this update, make sure you get all updates before you scan. Since this is a new install you may have to uncheck NewDotNet so it will not be ignored.

Get into the Advanced mode by selecting Mode and then
Advanced mode. Then select Settings and the in the left column select Ignore Products.
In the right window pane make sure the All products tab is selected. Then in that
window, right click your mouse and choose "Deselect all". Now in the left pane click
at the top on SpyBot S&D and then choose Search for Updates. Download any updates
required. Now click Check for Problems. Fix any that are found, if they can't be fixed attach the log to your next post.

ok, am downloading new Spybot now and will do as you say. Just out of interest, how come AdAware didn't pick up this NewDot thing? I run AdAware all the time and Spybot only now and then.

Every program picks up something different, depending on what Spybot is finding it may be something only Spybot can detect.

I have done all that you said and the finished test is; 'Congratulations, no immediate threats were found.' Does that mean that it got rid of that NewDot thingy; and shall i leave it in Advanced Mode?

I just looked in the Recovery part of Spybot and the NewDot is in there, along with eAcceleration and FunWebProducts; should i get rid of these?

Yes, I would get rid of the backups as you no longer need them. After you uncheck the ignored items you can go back to normal mode.
