Spybot Search and Destroy Warning Messge

    I have Windows XP Pro. I just ran Spybot Search and Destroy and got the following two warning messages during Spybot's Find Problem search:

    (1) There was a problem in the Include file
    F:\Spybot Search andDestroy Folder\Spybot-Search and Destroy\Includes\Trojans.sbi"

    (2) There was a problem in the Include file
    F:\Spybot Search andDestroy Folder\Spybot-Search and Destroy\Includes\TrojansC.sbi"


    I went to the Includes file and found TrojansC.sbi and Trojans.sbi. Do I delete these two items or do I allow them to stay in the Includes file?

    I appreciate any guidance you can give me.

    Those are Spybot's include files that it uses to scan/detect malware. It was just having a problem loading the files or updating them. Does it happen all the time?

    Thanks for your response, Chaslang.

    Yes, I get these same two warning messages each time I run Spybot. Should I delete the program and then reinstall it?

    chaslang MajorGeeks Admin - Master Malware Expert Staff Member

    Uninstall Spybot, reboot, delete the F:\Program Files\Spybot Search & Destroy folder (or whatever folder you have it installed into but you really should be using the default which is the above). Then download the current version of Spybot from here SpyBot - Search & Destroy and install & update it.

    Thank you very much, chaslang.

    I followed your instructions. After installing Spybot Search and Destroy from the link you gave me, I updated, immunized, and then searched for problems. One malware was found. No warnings regarding the Includes file. It seems that the problem is resolved.
