    Hey, all.

New here...have really appreciated the assistance I have gotten from MG.:)

I have a Vista laptop and have run Spybot S&D to clean and immunize. When I actually try to immunize, it leaves about 25% of the items un-immunized.

I first tried to do this with UAC turned on, in an Admin acct, and was told I didn't have admin privileges and nothing was immunized. When I turned off UAC, and again from an admin acct, Spybot immunized about 75% of the items and said that some couldn't be immunized b/c i didn't have admin privileges.

    Any ideas?:confused

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

After you disabled UAC, did you reboot before running Spyboy? If not, you have to reboot for the full effect to occur on UAC. Then still run Spybot as Administrator after the reboot.

    Thanks for the reply, chaslang.

Yes, I rebooted after disabling UAC. I tried normal and safe modes. I tried from a second admin acct I created for the purpose. I am at a loss...obviously.

I then installed Adv Windows Care v2. Will that be enough for immunization? Or do I need to continue to work on getting Spybot S&D to immunize as well?

    Thanks again.

This does not protect you. Even Spybot is not a full protection program unless you use Teatimer which is not on our list of recommended things to use due to too many issues with it.

I'm not sure what your issue is with Spybot as I have not seen any problems getting it to Immunize properly on many many Vista PCs. Did you try using Run As Administrator as I suggested. This is not the same thing as using an Administrator account.

Are you sure you don't have any other malware issues on your PC?
