spybot

hi when i use spybot and search for updates there is a update detections file. but i can't download it. when i click on download updates, the window that shows the progress of the download pops up, but it doesn't finish downloading.

should i just run or save it?

 

oh and would i have to download them manually every time?

 

Save to your desktop and double click to install. You shouldnt have to do this everytime. Sometimes the servers get tied up and do this.

 

Sometimes you have to change the update section. If in the US, you may need to select: Securitywonks.net or securitywonks.org or another download site.

If you are using spybot 1.4, within the update section, simply click on the section between "Search for Updates" and "Download updates". Between these should be (sometimes on default "see-cure [Europe]). Just click that and a drop down menu should appear. Try a different "server".

Yes, this just downloads to a temporary location only for running once. It should be the same as saving to desktop.

thanks for the help. after i downloaded updates spybot scan showed a SurfSideKick. spybot removed it but im paranoid about it coming back. its happened before where i couldn't remove something.

 

Attach the log from spybot.

I dont see anything in that log, I was looking for the log that had the infections you mentioned.

If you like you can attach a current HJT log from normal mode and I will confirm your clean.

I dont not see any problems, if your not having any problems you should be ok. Make sure you have the latest updates for everything including your OS.

i'm having the same problem with spybot again. i cannot download the updates.. i've tried securitywonks.net and securitywonks.org but they don't work.

 

ok i used MalwareBytes to download them. but i've never had this problem before until these last 2 updated detections files.

 

Every now and then it will do this, I've had this problem a few times. What I did was simply close Spybot, reopen it and download updates again and it worked fine.
