    Hi,
I've been a member for a while but I don't think I've ever posted before. Looked around and found solutions to other problems but this time I think i need to ask this specific question. Hope you guys aren't too bothered by a newbie like me, asking what has probably already been asked!

Today my SpyCop program found NetSpy/ScreenSpyQQSoft/SentryRemote bySearchHelp

    in C:\ProgramFiles\supportsoft\bin\vnchooks.dll

this little bastard was installed back in June! Boy, I'm a little pissed to say the least.

Would you be so kind as to instruct me on the steps of removal? I'm currently running Vista Business on my Sony Vaio.

Just your basic home user, so if you get way technical on me, I might answer with some questions but I'm no dummy either, so maybe we can get this thing licked!?

Thanks, any help is really appreciated!

    P.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Well first I would suggest that you ignore what SpyCop is reporting. It sounds like a false positive to me. That file is used for RealVNC applications and the SupportSoft folder is probably for software you installed to do remote support or to do remote desktop type work. If you are not sure what the SupportSoft folder is, it could be something you installed from your ISP. See this: http://www.supportsoft.com/

    Hi,
Thanks for the welcome and boy, you sure are fast!

    but...

I never installed any software for remote anything. As far as the Remote Desktop goes, I checked the box that read something like do not allow any remote connections...
today however, I found that it was changed to allow certain remote connections.

Also, I see that SupportSoft is a legitimate deal, but what about the NetSpy/ScreenSpy thing?

    Thanks again,
    p.

You said that SpyCop called the vnchooks.dll file NetSpy/ScreenSpy. But as I said, this is legit software. Are you sure it is not software installed by your ISP? Who is your ISP?
