Be aware that SpyNoMore-Illysoft LLC is being investigated by the FTC as a bogus company that creates browser hijackers and then advertises and sells fixes for them. The only thing that works on their site is their Purchase-This Product directions. Webmails to technical support comeback "full." And no where on their website, which looks spiffy as heck, can you find a link to their company, Illysoft. This all happened to me.

I also read on another forum that RegNow/Digital River - which manages SpyNoMore's web sales may be part of this scam, altho when I emailed them, they did get back to me, but not with the information I requested so I've sent them another email to find out where this mystery company is.

What caught my attention about SpyNoMore, was how every day after the program scanned my computer it would report that my computer was clean. This is while Webroot and Norton were finding a fair amount of malware, including tracking cookies, occasional Trojans and most amazingly: spynomore DLLs were being identified as spyware as well!

Your read that right! Webroot and Norton Internet security identify this product as spyware, which I've never seen happen with any other anti- malware product I've used. At that point, I disconnected SpyNoMore from my start up folder.

I'd be interested if anyone else has had a similar experience with this program or if you know where Illysoft is. But I've got to admit, if this company is a sham operation, they have created a fascinating way to steal people's money. Kind of like hitting someone over the head with a 2x4 and then sellinng them an ice bag!

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

SpyNoMore had at one time been on the Rogue Tool list (along with about 300 or so others). See: http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm#snm_note It was removed at a point since they had cleaned up their act with false positive issues. However even after that, it was never something we would recommend to be used. In fact we normally suggested that it be uninstalled even if a user had purchased it.

I have no proof one way or another about any current activities of this company, but you really should not be surprised by this. Read thru that link I gave you. It is actually falling way behind on reporting rogues tools. In the last few months there have probably been several dozen more.

Oh and by the way, cookies are not problems. See step 11 of this: How to Protect yourself from malware!
