I have this stupid malware warning thing going on and "red shield w/ white x and then it changes to a blue shield with a white question mark" back and forth and the security warning appears. I'm sure you know about all this. Anyway I was reading the threads and downloaded the combofix and ran it and here are the results. Would you be so kind as to direct me what to do next
    Thank you, AMY

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

I'm going to post two sets of instructions below. Each will be enclosed in separate Quote boxes. Make sure to complete the first one 100% before moving on to the second one.

ATTACH THE FIRST LOG NOW BEFORE CONTINUING OR YOU WILL OVERWRITE IT!!!! And then immediately continue on to the below steps.

    How are things working now?

That is not what I asked you to run! That is a log from FixWareOut. Also there are two copies of rapport.txt (yes this is the correct spelling ) that need to be attached and you must attach the log from step 1 before doing step 2.

Also you don't answer my question on how things are working, I will have to assume we are all done.

Opps, so sorry, here is what you asked for. The situation is still the same. I would have replied to your post sooner had I not fallen asleep with my son.

I went on and completed step 2 as per the directions have attached the rapport_2 results of the step 2, I then shut down and rebooted in safe mode and did step 2 a second time and attached the results (rapport_3).

It seems that everything is back to normal. I wont know for sure until you have a chance to review the rapport files. Thank you, I will look forward to your reply.

Based on your logs it would appear that your Smitfraud infection has been removed. If you still have any malware issues, you should run thru the below standard cleaning process.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, renaming, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.
    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
      • AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy. - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!
