    Hello,

I have had Spybot Search and Destroy for some time on my laptop (v 1.3) but haven't used it unfortunately. I was advised to do so and to install all updates that come up PLUS a new version if available. I did this and installed version 1.4. However upon installing two installation boxes opened and so I cancelled on only because I didn't understand what it was doing (showed Extract trojans.sbi, extract keyloggers.sbi) and am not that computer savy.

At the time of my first search the software seemed as updated as could be. It found 85 entries of spyware and destroyed them. Then upon a reboot and second scan it found Avenue A. Inc (a second time). I fixed it, but over continous searches for updates, downloading them and scans again it keeps coming up. I have turned off System Restore as well. However an earlier scan today showed no problems but then I scanned one last time, and again up comes Avenue A Inc. What should I do? Should I be paranoid about this spyware?

    thx
    Lisa

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Those files are part of the detections that Spybot uses to search for malware. They are all okay. If you stopped these from installing, you should uninstall ALL versions of Spybot that you may have installed, reboot, and then reinstall the current version from here: SpyBot-Search & Destroy And then get all updates. Also make sure you click Immunize after getting all updates. If it tells you that more things can be blocked, click the green Immunize plus sign at the top to Immunize.

In fact you should make sure you have done everything in that link unless you already are having malware problems. If you are having malware problems do not attempt to get any Windows Updates. You should instead work thru the below:
