I've just finished upgrading my pc with a new mother board and a fresh install of windows xp. i downloaded windows spyware beta 1....ran it and saw my system was clean...i go and find norton 2005 and d/led that and the crack patch. Unfortunately the patch had spyware. I then installed adware and spybot and i've cleaned out my system completely or so i think. My desktop wallpaper is still this message saying:

    SPYWARE INFECTION
YOUR SYSTEM HAS BEEN INFECTED WITH SPYWARE PLEASE RUN ANTI SPYWARE TOOLS

I can't get rid of this off my desk top....i've opened up pictures to try to change my desktopbackground but to no avail...any advise guys!

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

without being too judgemental... your problem came from using warez!! there are a few free alternatives that would have served you well Avast, AVG to name two, but goes to show the perils of downloading warez, hacks & patches.

but follow the above guide and once you have posted your logs ( attached as per the guide ) then a malware specialist will be along to help, they are very busy at present but will get to you.
