spyware removal question

A while back I went through the read this first process for removing malware from my computer. At that time I read that you should only have one antispyware program on your computer at a time. I used Counterspy at that time and discovered it found more and I liked it better than AVG free version. I would like to pay for Counterspy now and would like to know if I need to remove AVG from my computer first.

You don't need to remove the free version of AVG Antispyware since it becomes only a scanner after the trial period is over. Thus it has no realtime blocking that could conflict with CounterSpy. However if your system seems to be running slow after installing the pay version of CounterSpy, you may want to look into disabling the service that AVG Antispyware leaves running or try uninstalling AVG Antispyware to see if it helps to improve your performance.
