As stated in the READ & RUN ME, most slow PC issues are not due to malware. Yours is likely due to lack of memory. Your logs show
We recommend at least twice this amount or memory (i.e., at least 1 GB) at a minimum to properly run Windows XP.

But you do have a little more to do.

You are way way out of date with your version of MGtools. You need to always update to the current version given in the procedure. You should NEVER be running an old copy since you should be uninstall/deleting it after finishing any cleanup.

Run this Disable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove Windows Messenger. Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups.

Uninstall the below old versions of software:
Java 2 Runtime Environment Standard Edition v1.3.1
    Java(TM) 6 Update 3
    Java(TM) 6 Update 5
    SpywareBlaster v3.4
    Viewpoint Media Player

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [UserFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -u
    O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {53F6FCCD-9E22-4d71-86EA-6E43136192AB} - (no file)
    O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {925DAB62-F9AC-4221-806A-057BFB1014AA} - (no file)

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now we need to use ComboFix
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box into it:
    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below
    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

After reboot, now install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

Now download and install the correct version of SpyWare Blaster

Now run Ccleaner. Only use the Run Cleaner button. Do not run anything else on any other forms.

Now download the current version of MGtools and save it to your root folder. Overwrite your previous MGtools.exe file with this one.

Run MGtools.exe ( Note: If using Vista make sure UAC is still disabled. Also don't double click on it, use right click and select Run As Administrator )

    Now attach the below log:
    • C:\ComboFix.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

hi chaslang, i think the main problem with her computer is lack of ram as you suggested. she said she got a message stating that virtual memory is low. also she is supposed to have hyper-threading, but when i look in device manager, i only see ACPI Uniprocessor PC. i read that with hyper-threading 2 processors should appear. however i followed the instructions in your last reply. and here are the logs. also i ordered some more memory and will be upgrading to 2 Giga bytes as soon as it comes in (probably tomorrow). thanks so much for your help, i will be looking forward to your next reply.

chaslang, i just got my memory and installed it, it seems faster to me but my wife is more familar with the computer than me. i also ran intel's processor identifier and found that the processor doesn't have hyper-threading.however the computer seems a lot faster to me. thanks

You're welcome. That looks better, but the ComboFix step did not work completely. I guessing McAfee got in the way even though it shows it was disabled. Let's try to fix the bad driver another way.

Now download The Avenger by Swandog46, and save it to your Desktop.
    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Do not change any check box options!!
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it into the Input script here: part of the window:
    • Now click the Execute button.
    • Click Yes to the prompt to confirm you want to execute.
    • Click Yes to the Reboot now? question that will appear when Avenger finishes running.
    • Your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt and it will popup for you to view when you login after reboot.
Now download to your Desktop and run the current version of combofix.exe Just run it by double clicking on it after shutting down McAfee.

    Then attach the below log:
    • C:\avenger.txt
    • C:\combofix.txt
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Something is blocking the jfdcd driver from being removed. I'm not sure if McAfee is getting in the way or if something else is hiding. Let's search the registry for additional info.

Now download Registry Search (see the link titled RegSearch Download Link )
    • Extract the files from Regsearch.zip into a folder.
    • Doubleclick regsearch.exe to start the program.
    • See the top 3 boxes under the Enter search strings (case independen) and click Ok... option, enter the below string (use copy and past)
      • jfdcd
    • Then click "OK".
    • Notepad will be opened with text in it (the file named RegSearch.txt will be saved in the program's folder as well).
    • Attach this RegSearch.txt file.

Okay that was not very helpful since it did not reveal the full registry key path information. Please try the below.

Download the current version of combofix.exe and save it to your Desktop now, but DO NO run it.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box into it:
    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • Now reboot your PC into Safe Boot Mode.
    • In safe boot mode, make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.

When combofix reboots your PC, allow your PC to reboot in normal boot mode.

Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

i think it is working pretty good now. i think that driver must be gone now because , the wallpaper on her desktop changed, it must have had something to do with the driver, let me know if it is indeed gone. thanks, here are the logs

No it is not gone. You still had some of McAfee enable including the firewall and it may have gotten in the way. Download the current version of ComboFix to your Desktop again (it changes frequently) and try the fix again. Make sure of all the below conditions too:
    • you must boot in safe mode
    • you must get ALL of McAfee disabled otherwise uninstall it
    • you must create the CFScript.txt file properly. Your last log from ComboFix shows no sign of it trying to remove the driver which could mean the CFScript.txt file was incorrect or that protection software was blocking it.

ok, i did it again but was not able to do it in safe mode because i could not see all of my desktop or could not disable mcafee. the resolution was low and when i turned it up the new settings would not take. so i did it in normal mode. here are the logs:

Okay your logs are clean now.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we used Pocket Killbox during your cleanup, do the below
      • Run Pocket Killbox and select File, Cleanup, Delete All Backups
    3. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures in step 3 the READ ME for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
