Is there a good spyware tool out there that I can use as a utility that does not need to be installed an a computer? Something that works like Avast or Stinger does for Viruses.

Not really! And you need to install a spyware blocker (also a virus blocking - antivirus package). Just having uninstalled scanners is not sufficient. You need to prevent malware from getting onto your PC to begin with. You should see the below thread:

I am an IT Technician looking for a tool to use on many PCs, something I can run from a CD or from a network. I want to be able to use this on PCs that I already know are infected. Avast and Stinger are tools that can be used to scan for a select number of viruses and can be updated by downloading the latest copy. If there was such a spyware program, it would cover the latest spyware and adware, and know the locations it was installed.

If the pc your working on is online, you can go to webroot.com and use their spyaudit. It's very fast, but only gives you a report, no cleaning.

Webroot probably won't do much good if it won't remove the spyware, I would just be digging through endless registry entries and folders.

Be careful when you say Avast. You specifically mean avast! Virus Cleaner Tool

There are lots of miscellaneous specialty tools like this around for cleaning only very specific things. And there are probably on the order of a dozen or more online scanning sites that you can go to that will find and fix a variety of malware issues.

But if you are maintaining a network, it is even more important that you install and use full time blocking tools. Waiting until after the fact is the wrong approach. Try installing Microsoft® Windows AntiSpyware It's free, it blocks, and it scans.

I have MS Antispyware installed on several machines, but only on machine I feel are at risk. As far as I know, MS antispyware is only good until July and where it will go from there, I don't know.

I guess what I'm asking for is a quick scan and removal tool.

Most of the time, when someone here gets spyware, it is because they were on a website they were not supposed to be on.

There is no such thing! And if there were it would not be very effective because malware changes at an incredible rate. Most of the new stuff that is out can only be removed by manual methods as you see us doing here. The cleanup procedures we have everyone run as a default get the easier well known stuff but we typically have to get a HijackThis log and go by hand from there. The best thing to do is have the proper protection mechanisms in place to begin with so you avoid getting most of the infections. Also to be careful where you surf and what you click on.

If you don't want to install applications, then use the online scanners. A bunch of them are mentioned in the below sticky thread:
