Spywareblaster/Defender?

Yes/No, both help block, prevent known malware from infecting you BUT,

SpywareBlaster basically adds all the nasty sites that can give you malware into the blocked site list in your browser and helps in preventing those site popups from being executed and dumping their load in the first place. SpywareBlaster does not scan and cannot remove malware if you are infected its a pervention tool.

Defender is a Malware scanner and will ( like other malware scanners, Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D etc ) scan and remove any known malware that has gotten through and infected your PC, Defender will also as it has some other nice tools, show you what applications run at startup and who they belong too, good in determining if they are legit or not.

Not all malware software will pick everything up and these are a bit of an exception to the rule of not having two AntiVirus apps live/background scanning at once or for that matter two Firewalls, so most users run two or more malware scanners.


I run both and have no problems with either.
