~~Spywareno Question

I was running my Ad-Awarese and it found 2 entries of Spywareno, and it promptly cleaned them out. And I havent had any problems yet, and I was reading through the Malware forum and I see all these ppl with the same problem...Spywareno. Obviously its caused by Kazaa, which is where I visited and came across my Spywareno.

But my question is, can Ad-AwareSE really clean out Spywareno without needing anything else? I also scanned with Yahoo AV, SpySweeper and CCleaner and found nothing.My pc is fast and reliable as ever, and as I said Ive had no problems yet.

This infection has been out for quite some time now. The Ad-Aware detections are probably false positives however it could be an actual infection. This particular infection does similiar to other desktop hijackers such as PS Guard and Smitfraud. If you have any of these problems then it could be an infection but if not it's probably a false positive.

 

That sounds reassuring. I've since scanned with Ad-AwareSE( with all the updates) and its found nothing, other than negilible cookies. And my pc hasnt been showing any of the obvious signs of infection. Thanks for the response, after reading through the malware forums I see you are quite busy bjgarrick, so thanks again.

What exactly is a false positive? I think I may have an idea, but I could be wrong.

It's when a scan incorrectly reports that it has found an infection where nothing really exists.
