Last time i started it (a few days ago, i only use it for homework/practice), everything was fine. That was a few days ago and today when i went to start it and it won't start due to a log on failure. The only thing i can think that i have done in the last few days is clean my registry. Is there a key i may have inadvertantly removed that has the SQL Server logon?

    WinXP Pro, MSSQL Server

SQL server logon is controlled in a master database.WHen you installed it, did you change the SA account password? did you also update to SQL server SP3?

i actually only updated to SP2, but it has worked thus far. I will try installing the SP3 and see if that helps :)

The only reason I ask is because there is a SQL trojan that does stuff like this. If you hadn't updated or changed your SA password then it may have change it.
