Very nice, I assume this is from the cameras that are recovered, looks very good quality for a live transmission?

Excellent! I know it's a PITA having everybody worry and want to document every square inch with cameras mounted everywhere, but makes for some good viewing for us all.

 

Nah, no big deal. The imagery is actually quite useful; it eliminates a fair amount of guessing.

 

Will that camera film all the way till touchdown ,if not it should,if so I wanna see the film ,I'v still yet to see a SRB parachute recovery, a drogue and three mains, yummy

 

Onboard video from last year's flight, one video of each booster all the way into the water. Zipped .asf files, any player supporting .asf file format can play them, or Irfanview with the plug-in package.

I'v just watched them all from your previous link to the NASA page thanks that one you linked to is timelapse the first one on the NASA page,I have no idea why a time lapse camera is being used,is it maybe the downloads from the mothership are segmented and part of the film still waiting to be downloaded ,theres also no sound with most of the videos maybe a failure,if not I'm not sure why audio visual cameras arnt used the audio is half of the show for me

The best cam is the forward left cam full motion looking at the ground around 85 secs in you can see the the exaust plume all the way down to the tower absolutely amazing

I'v gotta say though I'm dissapointed with the quality of the parachute cameras the audio is awfull and so is the picture you can hardly see the parachutes opening,I'm sure there are reasons for the bad quality but I cant think of any

I wish the Gates brothers high power rocketry site was running,they are still the best onboard rocketry videos I have seen,sorry NASA

Audio didn't bring down Columbia.

The purpose of the cameras isn't IMAX, it's data. The first set is the initial use of imagery on the SRB's; as is the case with any new project, improvement is likely on subsequent attempts.

I'll ask the folks at Michoud to include an mp3 of "Ride of the Valkyries" in the camera bay next time.

LOL I cant help it I'm a moaning pomme I was just born this wayofcourse the cameras are doing a job but at the same time they are the showcase for the people,its great the way NASA has been going of late moving more toward showcasing the flights as on the NASA site more of this can only be a good thing as it breeds newer generations of rocketry enthusiasts and as importantly keeps everyone excited and interested which helps future funding

There is audio on the aft SRB cams its just quite and of poor quality,you did remember to turn up Mic volume in audio controls didnt you Star
