this was sent to me so i thought i'd share.

Hi there, a friend sent this so I picked seven people whom I thought would DO tit too. I hope I chose the right seven. Please send this back to me (You'll see why). In case anyone is interested, Saint Theresa is known as the Saint of the Little Ways.

Meaning she believed in doing the little things in life well and with great love. She is also the patron Saint of flower growers and florists. She is represented by roses. May everyone be blessed who receives this message.

Theresa's Prayer cannot be deleted. REMEMBER to make a wish before you read the poem. That's all you have to do. There is nothing attached. Just send this to seven people and let me know what happens on the fourth day. Sorry you have to forward the message, but try not to break this, please. Prayer is one of the best free gifts we receive. There is no cost but a lot of reward.

Suggestion: copy and paste rather than forward to protect email addresses and access to e-virus. (Did you make a wish?) If you don't make a wish, it won't come true. Last chance to make a wish.

St. Theresa's Prayer: May today there be peace within. May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith. May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be content knowing you are a child of God. Let this presence settle into our bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and every one of you.

Now, go and send this to 7 people within the next 5 minutes and your wish will come true. and remember to send it to send this back...I count as 1...you'll see why.

p.s I think we should make prayers not wishes, but there you go,

    Much love

it took much longer than five minites to send this seven times so i hope god is flexable about hawaiian time. :) aloha laurie

I thought hard about NOT responding to this, and just can't resist. I have an uncle that passes on every "pass-it-on" email that graces his inbox, including a lot of religious ones. I've noticed a few things that bother me a lot about most of the religious ones.

And I don't have anything at all against passing on things with religious meaning. I'm a Christian, and am certainly not offended by the content, although a lot if it can be pretty trite. But I am offended by the typical packaging of them.

The common non-religious spam will either rely on sensational, usually panicky (and seldom true) content or a false promise that Bill Gates or some company is gonna send you money for passing it on (obviously a lie).

Religious spam will either promise that God will grant you a wish for sending it to x number of people (about as true as Bill Gates sending you money), or intimidate you with an insult that if you don't send it on, you really don't love Jesus.

I guess I just don't love Jesus, because a lot of those that I've seen don't meet my standards of what to pass on, so they get deleted. The God I serve is interested in what I do, and what I think, not in how many pass-it-on emails I pass on, so most of those promising wish fulfillment don't get passed on either. For the few that I find worthy of sharing, I strip out the bogus promises and threats, and just send the worthwhile content.

I'm not Catholic, but St. Theresa's prayer is a very nice reminder to look up, look forward, and be all we can be. But the way it's packaged is like a fresh filet mignon wrapped in week-old dead fish. Why can't people simply share what they think is worth sharing, and let it stand on its own?

This is NOT any kind of criticism of you laurieB, I like the prayer, and you didn't write it. Just don't like the packaging. :)

i agree totally. i thought the prayer worthy of sharing, but i posted the whole thing in order to elicit comment. at first i was worried about virus's n stuff but by sending separately 7 times i don't think i can be passing a virus. the next thing that bothered me was the idea that thousands of people would be sending me this prayer...kind of like pyramid praying, but it only asks the seven people you send it to to send it back to you, so i don't know. i do believe that the power of prayer is multiplied by the number of people praying, so in the end i posted it to seven friends with the intent of having those seven send it to seven more. (well six really as they all have to post one back to me) . i hope none takes offense at this being posted here, but its the first of this kind Ive ever received. it took a great deal of thought before i passed it on. aloha and thank for the reply gt.

so when 7 people send it back you have 8 emails you are not supposed to delete. i agree with GT.

Anything that reflects YOUR thoughts is just fine, whether it's all your own, or sharing something that you found meaningful. One of the biggest dangers with just passing things on is that it gives us a sense that we're communicating with friends/family, but are really acting only as a pipeline for other people's stuff. I send a fair amount of stuff to friends, but try to make it something from ME, not just a forward. And I never, ever ask them to pass it on. If I write/find something worth sharing, it will probably get shared. If not, I've actually communicated with my friends, which is more important.

I've never really cared for form prayers like this and the prayer of Jabez, for example. It seems to cheapen the idea of prayer, changing it from a meaningful talk with the Almighty to a rote incantation meant to garner some specific result, like some Harry Potter style magic spell.

yes but the fact remains that if you could persuade seven people to send it to seven people you could have thousands of people praying for , in this case love. i find that a quite delightful thought. aloha
