Stacker On Win98se Pc?

Hi! I have on my Win98SE tower at my mother's house both DriveSpace and Stacker. IMO, Stacker is much better than DriveSpace. It produces a better compression ratio and is smaller and easier to use. It's also faster. I recently installed Stacker in DOS mode on that system, because I couldn't get DriveSpace to work from DOS. Last I heard, Stacker is incompatible with Win98SE. Is this true? I really want to recompress all my floppies and Zip disks using Stacker.

These take me back, nostalgia! I suspect the fallout from the law suits at the time would render Stacker obsolete in later OS than MS DOS 6, that is Windows 95 and later. The articles indicate that DoubleSpace (not DriveSpace) is the preference.

BTW, can I use DriveSpace from Win98SE DOS? I was told to type "DRVSPACE /S" at the DOS prompt, but I got an error stating that the program requires Microsoft Windows. Also, I tried to access compressed floppies from two floppy-based DOS system disks, and the disks weren't automounted. How do I install DriveSpace on them and handle compressed disks?
