    Hello.
I have a stand alone dvd-recorder (the kind that hooks up to your television) and I am having trouble copying ©protected dvds from another dvd player. I found that if I go through a coaxial cable it works on occasion - but usually it won't record. It is a pioneer dvd recorder. Is there some sort of filter or chip I could use/install to bypass this copyright protection?

    Thanks.
    pj.

Stand-alone units are designed to not duplicate copyrighted material, and I would be highly sceptical of any hardware mod claims to do so. There are apps like DVD Shrink, DVD X-Copy, and DVD Decrypter that will allow DVD bachkups with a PC to HD or disc.
@ Dude1010101: You can back up DVDs, CDs and other copyrighted material for your own personal use. It's illegal to distribute the copies to others or to accept copies of material you don't own legally.
