    I have been thinking. .

    since the first ST:TNG movie(Generations)
Picard got stuck in the Nexsus(sp)
and once in the Nexus, "you never leave"

    so every film prior
    (First contact, Insurection, an Nemisis)
He is still in the nexus. . .he only thought he got out. . . .

  2. ColonelAngus

You can get out, can't you? If you want to leave you can leave. I thought that's how that thing worked. Oh, well. ????????????????????????

and how th H$LL did Whoopi get there?
    and be his "guide"?

I hope you are right "Cptn. Archer" -the Star Trek universe could use a resurrection of Picard and the Next-Gen. universe.
    Yours,

It's been a long time since I've seen that movie, but... she didn't really go there did she? Wasn't she part of Picard's subconcious or something? Cause' when you're in the Nexus anything you think or want comes true. I don't know. Ignore me. :D

    jarcher I can't handle a title

something like that. . .but if she wasn't really there. . then he didn't really leave, and cpt. kirk is still alive. . .

and. . the whole Klingon thing (with the face)
in ST:tOS they did not have the raised foreheads and stuff
    in ST:TNG they did

In ST:DS9 when they went back in time to stop a Klingon who looked human, Warf esplained that they were Klingon(the ones without the raised foreheads)
and it(going from flat to raised) was just something that happend that they don't like to talk about

    but
in ST: Enterprise, wich takes place before ST:tOS, Klingons have the raised forehead. . . .

  7. ColonelAngus

    ColonelAngus Beefy

Yeah, that Kilingon thing is stupid.

I don't know about the Picard thing though. I'd have to watch it again.

  8. jarcher

    jarcher I can't handle a title

I can understan technology improving and stuff

but they should have kept the Klingons from the old series in the new series

since they(the writters) have admitted in script that there was a change
if they had not explained(kind of) it than I would just be added effects
now they have to deal with the whole Klingon "evolution" thing
which they screwd up a little

  9. ColonelAngus

    ColonelAngus Beefy

I think the only reason the show stated that the Klingons had changed was because they did that episode in which the DS9 crew goes back in time. (you obviously know that) They had to explain it somehow. They should have come up with a better explaination or just ignored the fact that they looked different.

    right
    they were superimposed
    trouble with tribbles

    that was almost cool

Yeah. What do you think will become of Data? Don't want to ruin it for other people so I left the question kind of vague.

  14. jarcher

    jarcher I can't handle a title

Data is "dead" all blowed up
B4's (processors" are a little slow to transfer data's data into, but I am sure it is possible. .he is after all just a computer

in two weeks. Brent Spiner will be on ST: Enterprise as Dr.Soong. . .looking forward to what will happen

I have every episode on my pc ( last weeks is still in transision)
and I only watch them on it
so I am about week behind

I dont catch them on tv. . .

  15. ColonelAngus

    ColonelAngus Beefy

How can Dr. Soong be on Enterprise? Wouldn't he be a child or even younger in that era? Sounds like a desperate attempt to get people to watch Enterprise.

  16. jarcher

    he is just that old,
think. . Guinan was having tea with Mark twain in an episode of ST:TNG
and yea that is probably true too

It's been a long time, but wasn't it just that once you were in the nexus, you never wanted to leave(it being so nice an' all. England probably win the World Cup in the Nexus)

Picard didn't have too hard a time persuading Kirk to leave though, that's for sure.

Gotta love that TNG. Possibly my favourite TV show.

Did you pick up on the big boo boo in Generations?

When they are on the new Enterprise, Kirk & Scottie. Kirk dies.

Now go to Next Generation. One episode they find Scottie locked into the transporter (beam me up). He been in stasis for around 50 years. Something like that. In that episode he was moping around because everyone he knew was dead.

Wouldn't he have known what happened to Kirk? He was there afterall.

he was unconscience. . for a very long time. . like a coma
If you got blowd up and the guy next to ya did too
and you woke up after 50 years. .would you know wether he got blowd up and dead too?

I'm with you there, Mr. Pewty. The Next Generation -- no other Star Trek series has come close to equalling the comaraderie, the dry humor and the writing of that series.

Yeah, yeah - my opinion -- but it's the right opinion to hold. :)

  21. ColonelAngus

    ColonelAngus Beefy

Yes, but Guinan's species is known to be long-lived. I thought Dr. Soong was a regular human being. The time inbetween Enterprise and TNG is like 150 years or something. It just doesn't seem to add up to me.

As for Whoopie being in the Ribbon (Nexus).

Remember the guyb trying to get back in. Everyone taken out pretty much missed it, obsessively. Some got over it. Whoopie was on Picards ship. She was that old. Yet everyone who left the nexus was still there. duplicates, doubles.. what have you. you could leave thru any point in timelines willingly, but theoretically you were still there. So whoopie was his guide inside. Perhaps because she often acted as a guide or shoulder to chat with in the Relaxation lounge? His brain might have desired help and the nexus used their outside attachemnt to hook them up?!?.. possible.. but leaves the openning that Picard, and Kirk can both still leave the nexus again?.. heh Sortof like leaving a part of your soul in the ribbon..

As for Soong appearing in Enterprises. Duh.. It's not Dr. Noonien Soong. It's his father, or grandfather. They both are intellects off their rockers and beyond their times... definitely related. But defintely 'not' the same man.

Info towards the Warf DS9 Klingon insident. I agree.. The Enterprise should have maintained that Klingons went thru a change when they left the 'more human' look they had before some old war. I seem to remember something in Klingon history of a war. Horrible weapon or biological/chemical agent was used. Possibly causing their race to mutate or evolve?.. I cant remember.. but it was described somewhere. So ST:Enterprise screwed up by using the Klingon costumes.. whoops... also where are their outfits like the 100 year old outfit Warf used on STNG? :)

Actually, I think that if i remember correctly from TV guide or one of those publications I deliver, the carachter on Enterprise is actually the great-great-great-great grandpappy of the one who created Data.

Getting as geeky as I possibly can, almost :)

In a battle between the ships, who would win Star Trek or Star Wars.

Enterprise vs a few Star Destroyers?

Sorry, I'll now go hang my head :)

    Hrm..

OKay.. me behind a teleporter pad.. you have lightsaber.. we begin attack. You take definsive pose. I initiate protocol overrides.. You begin to swing your saber and run at me. I lock in and teleport you into space..

Poof... dead as a meat puppet... :):)

<Star Destroyers?.. okay..> talk about lame weaponry.. but they were really just large aurcraft carriers. Could take them out with a full spread of Quantum torpedo's.

Speaking of which.. is it my imagination or did Kirk have Photon torpedo's, and then Quantum torpedos were created around the NCC-1701-D era?

It's the 20-30 fighters they unleash that suck.

I think it'd be a closer fight to ask about a Star Destroyer vs Battlestar galactica. heh

Don't underestimate the power of being cheesy... erm using the Force to propel myself back to the ship fast enough to get inside and cut my way thru the hull :p

The Enterprise vs. an Imperial Class Star Destroyer? Are you nuckin futz? Check this out: the Enterprise's general specs are as follows:

    Source: http://www.kasper-online.de/en/docs/startrek/ncc1701d.htm
    Length: 642,5 metres
    Width: 467,0 metres
    Height: 137,5 metres
    Mass: 397805 metric tons
    Number of decks: 42
    Crew (standard): 1012
    Crew (maximum): 5000

    Source: http://hangarbay.tripod.com/td-isd2.html
    Name/Model#
    Imperial Class Star Destroyer
    Designer/Manufacturer
    Kuat Drive Yards
    Combat Designation
    Capital Starship
    Length
    1600 meters
    Crew
    37,085 (4,520 officers; 32,565 enlisted)
    Power System
    SFS I-a2b solar ionization reactor
    Weapons
    50 Heavy Turbolaser Batteries
50 Taim & Bak XX-9 Heavy Turbolasers (computer assisted targeting)
20 Borstel NK-7 Ion Cannons (computer assisted targeting)
10 Phylon Q7 Tractor Beam Projectors
    Starfighter Squadrons (standard)
    Three TIE Starfighter squadrons
    Two TIE Interceptor squadrons
    One TIE Bomber squadron
    Planetary Assault Troops
    Full Standard Stormtrooper division
    12 Landing Barges
    20 AT-AT Walkers
    30 AT-ST Walkers
    Other Onboard Craft
    Eight Lambda-class Imperial Shuttles
    15 Stormtrooper Transports
    5 Assault Gunboats

The Enterprise is outmanned, out gunned, and overshadowed. The only tactical advantage they'd have is speed, and would probably require 12 or more ships all commanded by Data to overpower the Star Destroyer. Not to mention you never see just one SD, there's usually 2 or 3 in a battle group and then a half dozen smaller capital ships accompanying them.

LOL... that's easy. The Borg win hands down. Even if they get killed, you can count on getting assimilated. To quote a friend: "Futility is resistant. Your ass will be laminated." :D
