I just bought this yesterday and boy what fun! I had the first version (Battlefront 1?) and it was pretty fun, but this one really did it right. You can be pretty much any character from Star Wars. Boba Fett, Darth Maul, Anakin Skywalker, Princess Leia, and so on. The combat is a lot of fun and the settings are too. They have even added space battles to this one. Start out on board a huge ship, you can choose to man one of the guns, or board an X-Wing and go fight outside the ship.

My favorite moment was when I was playing as Darth Maul (with his dual light saber) and came around a corner to face Yoda. We had a great fight (considering Yoda was AI) and I emerged victorious. I'm really impressed with the AI in this version. The original Battlefront's AI left a lot to be desired.

How's the multiplayer? The first one would only let you have 2 players in multiplayer. Does this one let you play up to 4 in multiplayer? That was the biggest let down for me in the first one.

The game supports 24, 32, or 64 players on the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC platforms, respectively. If you try to operate your own server on your console using the Xbox or PS2 versions of the game, you're limited to hosting only 4 players.

If you refer to co-op mode, that I am not sure of. I'll check my manual tonight.

Yeah, co-op mode is what I was talking about; non-internet multiplayer.

Played the beta of it, I thought the flying / space part sucked terribly bad, which was really the biggest addition to the game.

Don't know, I'm really enjoying the space side of it. I had to tweak my mouse rate some though. Perhaps the console is better suited to the space side, not sure. I'm on the PC.

Perhaps it is the SW geek inside of me after 30 years of dreaming about this stuff, I get to be there and I'm loving it.

Well, by non-internet multiplayer, do you mean like a LAN party? If so, the numbers are as above for the PC - 64 I guess. And it seems only up to 4 for the consoles if you host the server on a console.
