Start Menu Favorites Not Working

When I try to us e the favorites in my start menu, nothing happens, the window closes, and that is it. I can use the favorites button in IE, and it works like normal. I recently installed Spybot S&D, and Antivir, both are running in the background. Could one of these be blocking my start menu ?

 

drive:\documents and settings\username\favorites
drag it into startmenu.

 

I did as you suggested, and my favorites dissapeared from my start menu and IE. I put the file back where it was, and at least I now have them back in IE. There is now a favorites folder in my startmenu that I can't delete. I drug the file to the startmenu in the same username folder I found favorites in. Was that the right path?
