    Good morning,
I was obtaining help in the software forum for an issue with my run box in the start menu not accepting any input. (Windows 7)
After running a scan disc via a safe mode prompt and an sfc scan, my start menu is working again. (Hx: I did have a minor catastrophe about a month ago w my profile, which refused to open. I saved my docs/pics etc., via the other profile, but it did give me a scare. I run AVG and malwarebytes and CCleaner regularly.)

rustysavage asked me to run an external virus scan with ESET. It found a trojan in java that AVG had already quarantined. The log is in that thread. He then suggested I follow your READ ME first post and put my logs here for you to clear my machine.

So...I did, except that RogueKiller never did finish. After an hour, I became impatient and gave up. I tired two more times and it never got past the pre scan. I attached the log as far as it got. I've done this with two laptops and it was always quite fast. I know this pc hard drive is large and old (5 years) but I can't understand why it stalled out.

If someone could please check the logs at your convenience and let me know what's up, if anything, I'd greatly appreciate it.

    Thank you!

    Sue

I am not finding any malware in your logs. You can rerun Hitman and have it remove the PUP's. Otherwise, you should go back to the software forum for continued assistance.

Since you are not having any malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.

After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Thank you TimW, for reading my logs! I'm pleased that the pc is clean. I'll follow the instructions and go back to software if I need any more help.
